Abena Okyerewa Siaw is a Lecturer at the Department of Fashion Design and Textile Studies, FCAT, KsTU. She has over a decade of experience in teaching, research and administrative functions at the tertiary level. She has an extensive experience in the field of education, having taught in early childhood, primary school and high school for years before focusing on higher education. she holds a Bachelor’s degree (Hon) in Integrated Rural Art and Industry; a  Master's of Art degree in Art Education; and a Master's in Textile Designing all from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).   She is currently pursuing her PhD in Fashion Design and Technology from KNUST. Over the years, Abena has excellently participated in a number of important short courses to boast the performance of her duties both in terms of teaching and management purposes. These include an Executive Certificate in Business Administration (eCBA) Credit Risk Management as an elective from the Graduate School of Governance and Leadership, an Advanced Certificate in Fashion as a Private Candidate from Koforidua Technical in; Diploma in Education, a Competency-Based Training Methodology option from University of Education Winneba-Kumasi Campus (COLTEK) now the Appiah -Menka University of Education University of Skills and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), FacilatatingOnline-2022-2 by University of Cape Town.

She has worked on committees at the Department and Faculty levels. She acted as an assistant department examination Officer, Fashion. Design & Textiles Studies and then took over officially from then. She was promoted to the Faculty Examinations Officer due to her dedication, objectivity and meticulous way of attending to examination issues. For her hard work and dedication, she became the Faculty examinations Officer for Diploma and Non-Tertiary, IDLCE, KsTU. Currently, she is the Acting Programmes Coordinator, at FCAT, KsTU where among other duties she facilitates courses in Millinery and Accessories Production, Beading and other fashion-related courses.  Her research interest covers fashion sustainability, textile design, Product Development Processes, Art Education, particularly Teaching, Learning and Student Achievement in Visual Arts and Vocational Education Training, Accessories Production, Beads and Bead Artistry. She is able to multi-task and likes to read, teach, mentor and counsel students. Prior to joining the Department of Fashion Design and Textile Studies, FCAT, KsTU she worked with the National Youth Council now National Youth Authority in Kumasi as a service personnel offering training for the informal sector and the Ghana Education Service as a teacher in Textiles Studies at O'Reilly Senior High School, Accra.
