Dr. Stephen Okyere is Ghanaian by birth and hails from Akuapem-Mampong in the Eastern Region of Ghana. He was born in Breman-Brakwa in the Central Region. He completed his Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at Amanase Nana Apeatu JHS in the Eastern Region and his Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (SSCE) at Suhum Secondary Technical Senior High School, also in the Eastern Region.

He was trained as a professional teacher at the Presbyterian Training College (PTC), now known as the Presbyterian College of Education in Akropong-Akuapem. After his training, he taught for three years at the basic school level and then attended the University of Education Winneba (UEW) to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Science Education (B.Ed. Science) with a major in Physical Science, which included Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. As part of his professional training, he worked as an intern teacher at Suhum Secondary Technical SHS for one year.

Upon graduation, he was posted to St. Monica’s SHS in Mampong Ashanti, and later to KNUST SHS in Kumasi. Given the opportunity, he pursued a master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

After completing his master's degree, he traveled to China to pursue a PhD in Communication and Transportation Engineering, specializing in transport, logistics, and supply chain management at Wuhan University of Technology. Additionally, he holds a Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) in Logistics and Supply Chain Management in Oil and Gas and a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Pastoral Ministry from Valley View University, Ghana.

Dr. Okyere has received training and taught in various educational disciplines, including Science, Mathematics, Technical, Engineering, and Business Administration, accumulating 25 years of teaching experience across all levels of education, from basic to tertiary.

He has been a formal member of various teacher unions in Ghana, beginning at the basic level and progressing through secondary, college of education, polytechnic, and technical university, including GNAT, GNAGRAT, CETAG, POTAG, and TUTAG, respectively.

In addition to his academic qualifications, Dr. Okyere holds professional qualifications in Transport, Logistics, Procurement, and Supply Chain Management, certified by highly accredited world-class international and local professional bodies in these specialized areas. He is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Logistics and Transport (CMILT), a Chartered Member of the Institute of Supply Chain Management (MCISCM), and a student member of the Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS).

It is worth mentioning that Dr. Okyere has been in active service throughout his teaching career, except for periods of further studies, and he currently holds the position of Senior Lecturer at Kumasi Technical University.

2023-24  Appointment as Vice Hall Master for Liberty Hall effective 01/09/2021-2023.  Roles; to assist the hall master in the discharge of his duties in line with KsTU statute 77 and act as the hall master in his absence.

2023-24:  Appointment as Programs Advisory Committee (PAC) Coordinator for the University (KsTU) effective 01/03/2023 Roles: To represent the department on this committee (PAC), to organize meetings and report PAC’s progress on various platforms to the HoD and any other duties as will be assigned by the PAC & HoD

2023-Date:  Appointment as Deputy Grants Officer for the University (KsTU), for 20/02/2023 -2025. Roles: To help the Grant officer to scan for sources of grants globally and locally and to liaise with appropriate units within the university to develop and submit proposals to source grants to undertake projects and other activities in the university, report directly to the Vice Chancellor thru’ the Grants Officer.

2022-Date:  Appointment as a member of the Entity Tender Committee, at St. Monica’s College of Education, Mampong Ashanti, 01/10/2022. Roles: Assist review of plans in support of the objectives and aspirations of the College. Advise on cost of acceptable items to be procured and match them with the available funds in the approved budget, assist in review the schedules of procurement and specifications and also ensure that the procurement procedures conform with the new procurement act, ensure concurrent approval is secured from the  relevant Tender Review Board, applicable thresholds prior to contract award, facilitate contract administration and compliance with all reporting requirements under the new Procurement Act, ensure stores and equipment are properly disposed of in accordance with the new procurement act and carry out any other functions delegated by the Council.
